Proving that art can transform how we see, feel, and respond to our changing planet.
Verglas: a thin, invisible layer of ice; fragile, beautiful, dangerous
Who We Are
The Verglas Collective is an international artist and curatorial collaboration dedicated to transforming how we experience and respond to the climate crisis, through immersive, multi-sensory art.

Led by founding members, Kat Roma Greer and Rachel Honnery, all artists and curators involved create and explore work that bridges the gap between climate data, and human emotion. We believe that environmental transformation demands artistic innovation: new forms that can bypass intellectual distance and create the kind of deep, visceral connection that inspires lasting action.

Our name draws from verglas - the thin, nearly invisible layer of ice that forms on rock - a fragile, dangerous beauty that speaks to the delicate balance of our planet's cryosphere. Like verglas itself, our work reveals what is often overlooked: the intimate, human-scale encounters with environmental change that data alone cannot capture.

Focused on Asia-Pacific but collaborating internationally, The Verglas Collective creates work designed to go anywhere - from traditional galleries and concert halls to festivals, schools, community centers, and public spaces.

We're committed to democratising access to climate art, ensuring our work reaches beyond institutional walls into the communities who need it most.

The Verglas Collective is supported by Micro Galleries.

The Verglas Collective Founders
Both driven by climate art experience and the conviction that art catalyses planetary healing.
  • Rachel Honnery
    Visual Artist and Curator
Rachel Honnery holds a Master of Fine Arts, Master of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of NSW. Her art practice is adaptive and multi-disciplinary, using textiles, sculpture, photography and ephemeral materials to examine dialogues about the future of nature (landscapes, eco-systems, and environments) in an increasingly complex geo political world facing climate change. Honnery’s practice is bewitching in its beauty, her strong sense of aesthetics lures us in slowly and asks us to think about what we really are experiencing. She has completed residencies in Australia, The Arctic Circle and in the USA.

How We Work
We operate as a flexible creative nucleus: expanding and contracting to include international artists, composers, poets, and technologists whose expertise serves each project's unique vision.

We build bespoke creative teams that bring unique voices, skills, and perspectives to urgent environmental narratives.

This collaborative model allows us to work across continents and disciplines, uniting diverse artistic practices into cohesive multisensory experiences.

Each project draws together contributors who share our commitment to curating and creating work that bridges climate data and human emotion, transforming anxiety into motivated action.
Our Current Projects
Summer's End, our debut international collaboration, addresses the rapidly disappearing Arctic through a 22-minute, three-channel installation. The Verglas Collective, invited by Alan Olejniczak, expanded to include:

Alan Olejniczak (USA) - Poetry
Nathan Hall (USA) - Original Musical Composition
Setthasiri Chanjaradpong (Thailand) - Video Editing

Together, we created an immersive experience combining piano, poetry, and intimate visual documentation of Svalbard's melting glaciers—proving that international artistic collaboration can forge new pathways for climate communication.
Work With Us
The Verglas Collective collaborates with artists, institutions, communities, and change-makers to create powerful climate experiences that inspire action.

We're always looking for new collaborators, partners, and communities to work with.
  • Artists & Creatives
We build international teams for each project: composers, poets, filmmakers, sound designers, visual artists, and more. If you're passionate about using art to address climate crisis, we want to hear from you.
  • Venues & Institutions
We create adaptable installations for galleries, concert halls, festivals, schools, and public spaces. Our work meets audiences where they are, from traditional art venues to community centres.
  • Funders & Partners
We seek support from foundations, cultural organisations, and environmental groups who believe art can drive climate action. We create replicable models that bridge the gap between knowledge and behavior change.
  • Communities
We bring climate storytelling directly to communities often excluded from institutional art spaces. Reach out to explore how we can create meaningful experiences for your audience.
